Kyiv received new fire trucks from Barcelona

Kyiv received two more fire trucks to strengthen rescue services, which were handed over by Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni.

This was announced by the mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko.

Klitschko noted that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Barcelona has provided Kyiv with comprehensive support, including in the field of civil protection and security.

According to him, Barcelona has previously donated fire trucks, generators, and other humanitarian aid to the capital. The new vehicles will strengthen the capabilities of Kyiv’s rescue services.

“During a war, when it is important for the city to respond quickly to emergencies, these vehicles will help eliminate the consequences of shelling and save more lives,” Klitschko emphasized.

During the meeting, Kyiv and Barcelona also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. It provides for interaction in the areas of urban infrastructure development, energy efficiency, veterans’ and other socially important projects.

Klitschko thanked the mayor of Barcelona, the city council and the city community for their support for Kyiv and Ukraine. According to him, the partnership has significant potential even after the end of the war – in particular, in the restoration of the capital, the development of urban infrastructure, energy efficiency, mobility, digitalization, culture, sports, youth and veterans’ projects.

Kyiv and Barcelona officially became sister cities in September 2022. Then the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

In particular, in April of this year, Klitschko met with Collboni in Madrid during Bloomberg CityLab. Then they agreed on further support for Kyiv and the development of the partnership.
