Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said that emergency power outages have been imposed in most regions, including the capital, following Russia’s massive missile attack on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. He called on Kyiv residents to prepare for possible new attacks and act in a focused and responsible manner.
He wrote about this in Telegram .
It is noted that as a result of the massive shelling of Ukraine, during which Russian troops targeted critical infrastructure facilities, emergency power outages have been introduced in most regions of the country.
According to Klitschko, Kyiv has survived one of the most difficult attacks in recent times. Since morning, all city services have been involved in the work to eliminate the consequences of the strikes. Energy workers have already managed to restore power to more than 423 thousand consumers, but the restoration of power supply is ongoing in order to provide electricity to the rest of the capital’s residents as soon as possible.
Klitschko also reported that the water supply system has already been restored and is operating normally. However, in some houses where there is still no electricity, there may be a lack of cold water on the upper floors, as the pressure booster pumps are not working.
“The situation is complicated. And let’s tell the truth, and not engage in complacency. Because the enemy does not stop. A new attack is predicted in the coming days,” Klitschko emphasized.
The mayor called on Kyiv residents to focus as much as possible and act pragmatically. In particular, stock up on water, prepare a first-aid kit and food, charge autonomous power devices, and prepare warm clothes. He also urged not to ignore air raid sirens.
“All city services are working around the clock and in an intensified mode to restore the stable operation of the city’s life support systems. Support them with gratitude and your conscious attitude to possible challenges and response to them,” the mayor noted.
In conclusion, Vitaliy Klitschko emphasized that only through joint efforts will Kyiv residents be able to overcome the challenges that have befallen the capital.
“Only in harmony and together will we be able to overcome the challenges that have befallen us!” he concluded.
Earlier it was reported that after a massive night strike, a significant part of Kyiv was left without electricity. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko assures: restoration work has already begun, and the power will be restored soon. Later it became known that in Kyiv, power was restored for 270 thousand subscribers . Emergency shutdowns have been canceled in a number of cities.
As a reminder, as a result of the night strike on Kyiv, serious damage was recorded to critical infrastructure and residential buildings . Part of the capital was left without electricity and water, and the number of civilian casualties reached 12 people.
As reported, serious power outages were recorded in the capital on the morning of October 10. Due to strikes on critical infrastructure, the left bank of Kyiv was left without power, and the operation of the metro was partially limited.
