Kyiv was shelled with “Daggers” and drones: there are victims, including children

On the night of August 28, Kyiv was subjected to one of the most massive attacks in recent months. Russian forces simultaneously used strike drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as hypersonic “Daggers”, which led to large-scale destruction in several areas of the city. By morning, it was reported that four people had died, including two children, and more than two dozen people were injured.

This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko.

According to preliminary information, the enemy deliberately struck residential areas, trying to disorient Ukrainian air defense. The Kyiv City Military Administration stated that the enemy used several types of weapons at once: “Shahedas”, “Iskander” missiles, “Kinzhals” and cruise missiles. The air alert in the capital lasted for several hours, and explosions sounded almost continuously.

The Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Solomyanskyi and Holosiivskyi districts were the most affected. In the Darnytskyi district, several high-rise buildings were seriously damaged – rescuers are clearing rubble, under which people may be trapped. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, an operation is underway in one of the buildings to unblock residents who were trapped under the rubble of a destroyed five-story building.

In the Dnipro district, shelling caused a fire in a 25-story residential building and an office building. Private cars in the yards also burned down. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the fire engulfed several objects at once – including an office building, an educational institution and at least nine cars. The fire quickly spread to the first floors of neighboring buildings.

Holosiivskyi district was affected by numerous blast waves: broken windows were recorded in more than ten residential buildings, fires engulfed several objects. In Solomyanskyi district, a private house came under fire, in Obolonskyi – office premises were damaged, and in Svyatoshynskyi – an enemy drone was recorded falling into the yard of a residential building.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, search and rescue operations remain in an active phase, and the State Emergency Service aviation has been involved in extinguishing the fires. The situation on the ground is constantly changing, and the number of victims, unfortunately, may increase.

Among the victims are at least five children, the youngest of whom is only seven years old. Teenagers, adults, ordinary residents of the city – all of them have become targets in yet another attempt by Russia to intimidate the civilian population of the capital.

As a reminder, on August 27, Russian occupation forces struck the Polohivskyi district of Zaporizhia region three times . Three people were injured as a result of the shelling.

As reported, Russian occupiers attacked Chernihiv with a drone on August 27. The strike caused a fire at the enterprise.
