Ukraine plans to rebuild Kyiv’s defenses to take into account new Russian air attack tactics. The changes will affect aviation, air defense, and mobile fire groups.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine after visiting the Air Force command posts in the Kyiv region.
Together with the military, he discussed how Russia is changing its attack tactics and what needs to be done to better protect the capital region. The main task is to intercept Russian weapons before they reach Kyiv.
To this end, the military plans to change certain approaches to the operation of echeloned air defense. They must adapt the work of aviation, anti-aircraft systems, and mobile fire groups to the new conditions.
Separately, they discussed Shahed-type jet attack drones, which Russia has begun using during attacks. The Ukrainian military is already shooting down such drones, but now it is necessary to increase the number of means capable of intercepting them.
The Ministry of Defense is working on this together with the military, Ukrainian manufacturers, and international partners.
The minister also discussed with pilots and air defense operators what equipment the units currently need and what can be changed in their work.
