Czech aircraft manufacturing company Aero said it cannot manufacture new L-159 aircraft, which Ukraine is interested in, due to problems with the supply of individual components.
This is reported by Ceske Noviny.
The company’s president, Viktor Sotona, noted that the Czech Republic is unable to transfer these aircraft to Ukraine precisely for production reasons. At the same time, the manufacturer is ready to offer an alternative solution.
According to him, the company is considering supplying Ukraine with L-39 Skyfox multipurpose aircraft. They have lower operating costs and can perform a wide range of tasks, including being used to combat drones.
Sotona stressed that the Ukrainian side has been informed about the capabilities of the L-39 Skyfox for a long time. At the end of last year, the company first presented this aircraft in a light attack aircraft configuration at an exhibition in Dubai. Before that, the manufacturer had only demonstrated training versions.
“We believe this is a very effective drone hunter,” said Aero’s president.
Earlier, it was reported that in Prague, the three-party ruling coalition of the Czech Republic is discussing the possibility of transferring L-159 aircraft to Ukraine, which has caused debate among some politicians. One of the consequences is that some members of the coalition have stated their position against such a transfer and sale of these aircraft.
