US Defense Secretary Dan Driscoll held talks with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi on Monday in an attempt to advance a peace process between Moscow and Kiev, the latest initiative by the Trump administration to find a way to end the war.

According to Reuters, the American side and Ukrainian officials tried to agree on approaches to the ceasefire plan, revising the initial US proposal, which Kyiv and its European partners viewed as too Kremlin-oriented.

The American official said the talks would continue until Tuesday, and the exact composition of the Russian delegation was not yet disclosed. Driscoll also scheduled meetings with Ukrainian representatives to discuss possible steps to reach an agreement.

Experts note that the outcome of these negotiations may affect the further development of the conflict and international efforts to stabilize the situation in Ukraine.

As a reminder, the day before yesterday , a meeting of the US and Ukrainian delegations took place in Geneva, during which the parties discussed the updated American peace proposal. The negotiations showed significant progress and agreement on positions on further steps.

As reported, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin had not received official information about negotiations involving the United States, Ukraine, and European countries in Geneva . This means that Russia is not yet planning to hold talks with the American delegation on Ukraine.

It should be noted that after the negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva, the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.
