Latvia continues to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities — on November 6, Riga will hand over the final batch of domestically produced Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, reinforcing the partnership between the two nations in the face of Russian aggression.
This was reported by the Latvian Defense Ministry.
In particular, Ukraine will receive 21 armored personnel carriers, which will be handed over to Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal at the Ādaži military base.
The vehicles are equipped with NATO-standard 12.7 mm support machine guns and corresponding ammunition.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive spare parts, specialized repair tools, and equipment, as well as a mobile container-type repair workshop. These resources will enable Ukrainian forces to conduct field maintenance and repairs near the front line.
Ukraine will also receive battle damage repair kits, allowing military personnel to restore vehicles quickly during combat operations.
“From the very first day of Russia’s invasion, Latvia has supported Ukraine and its defenders in their struggle to protect their country. The donation of Latvian-made armored personnel carriers is significant support for Ukraine’s defenders — and an opportunity to test the strength and reliability of Latvian military technology on the real battlefield,”
said Andris Sprūds, Latvia’s Minister of Defense.
As is known, the Latvian government has decided to finance defense support for Ukraine within the framework of the international PURL initiative; the total amount of assistance will be 5 million euros.
