Latvia to provide Ukraine with a new humanitarian aid package: details

A humanitarian convoy worth almost 160,000 euros, formed with funds from Latvian residents and businesses, will depart from Riga to Ukraine on July 20. The cargo includes cars, generators, equipment and other supplies for Ukrainian military and medical institutions.

It is noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Ziedot.lv platform has been raising funds in support of Ukraine. Donations from residents and Latvian companies are used to purchase equipment, supplies, and gear for the Ukrainian army and volunteers every month.

The July humanitarian convoy will depart from the Ziedot.lv yard in Riga on the morning of July 20. It will include 14 vehicles, including SUVs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a refueling vehicle for the Nemesis unit of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces, and an ambulance for a hospital in Kyiv.

All vehicles are loaded with humanitarian aid, including generators, tactical equipment for the unit of Latvian combat medic Sarmite Ćirule, Starlink kits, computers, and televisions for drone control centers.

The message notes that all aid was purchased with donations from Latvian companies and individuals through the Ziedot.lv platform.

The event will be attended by the head of Ziedot.lv Ruta Dimanta, representatives of the public organization Bruņotava, volunteer drivers and representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia. The delivery of humanitarian cargo to Ukraine will be ensured by 18 volunteers from Ziedot.lv and the public organization Bruņotava.

Recall that in June, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov held a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Latvia Raivis Melnis, during which the parties agreed on new areas of cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities . One of the results of the agreements was a discussion of the supply of strike drones, naval drones, and robotic complexes to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first meeting with the new Prime Minister of Latvia, Andris Kulbergs, during his visit to Tallinn. Following the negotiations, the parties signed the Drone Deal on cooperation in the defense sector.
