Latvia to transfer strike drones and naval drones to Ukraine: details

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov met with Latvian Defense Minister Raivis Melnis, during which the parties agreed on new areas of cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. One of the results of the agreements was a discussion on the supply of strike drones, naval drones, and robotic complexes to the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The focus of the talks was on cooperation in the field of unmanned and robotic systems. The parties discussed the supply of Latvian-made strike drones, ground robotic complexes, naval drones, and anti-drone equipment to the Ukrainian military.
The meeting also discussed the further implementation of the international initiatives Drone Deal, PURL, and Test in Ukraine. These projects are aimed at developing modern defense technologies, testing new solutions, and scaling up the production of unmanned systems.
According to Fedorov, Latvia remains one of Ukraine’s key partners in the field of defense innovations.
“Latvia remains one of our closest partners and the leader of the Drone Capabilities Coalition,” emphasized Mikhail Fedorov.
The Ministry of Defense noted that cooperation between Kyiv and Riga in the field of unmanned technologies continues within the framework of the international Drone Capabilities Coalition, which unites partner states to provide Ukraine with modern means of warfare and the development of its own defense-industrial complex.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first meeting with the new Prime Minister of Latvia, Andris Kulbergs, during his visit to Tallinn. Following the negotiations, the parties signed the Drone Deal on cooperation in the defense sector.
