Latvia will allocate millions of euros for weapons for Ukraine: what amount is being discussed?

On Tuesday, February 17, Latvia decided to allocate 10 million euros to support Ukraine within the framework of NATO’s PURL initiative.

This was announced by Prime Minister Evika Silinja, Delfi reports.

According to the head of government, the funds will be used to purchase weapons and equipment necessary for Ukraine’s defense. The purchases are planned to be made in the United States, Latvia’s strategic partner.

These 10 million euros will be part of the annual military assistance to Ukraine. Riga emphasizes that the support is provided in the amount of 0.25% of the country’s GDP.

Recall, the deputies of the Latvian Seimas decided to reallocate five million euros for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles to support Ukraine in 2025. The funds are planned to be used to provide the Ukrainian side with modern unmanned systems and develop Latvian industry in the field of dual-use technologies.
