“Laundered” almost a million dollars: SBU announces new suspicion against the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces
The Security Service of Ukraine has reported new suspicions to the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces, who was previously caught in an illegal enrichment case. According to the investigation, the official legalized almost $1 million obtained through criminal means.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
The SBU recalled that in January 2025, military counterintelligence, with the assistance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, exposed a person involved in illegal enrichment and declaring false information.
According to the case materials, the official, who simultaneously holds the position of head of a psychiatric clinic, received almost $1 million in shadow profits.
The investigation additionally established that he legalized these funds through the purchase of luxury real estate and premium cars, which he registered in the name of close relatives.
In particular, the following assets are documented:
- an apartment in a new building on the Odessa coast, registered for the daughter of an official;
- a cottage near Kyiv, registered to the stepson;
- 3 BMW cars, models X3, X5 and X7, 2022, 2023 and 2024, designed for children.
Based on new evidence, SBU investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – legalization of property obtained by criminal means, committed by an organized group. The sanction of the article provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
By the way, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported new suspicions to the head of the food service of one of the military units as part of the investigation into the corruption scheme of supplying food to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This concerns illegal enrichment and legalization of property obtained by criminal means.
