Law enforcement officers found a gun and new evidence in the Parubiy murder case

In the case of the murder of MP Andriy Parubiy, the investigation has received new key evidence.

According to Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, law enforcement officers found the gun used in the crime. The suspect tried to hide the weapon in a specially equipped cache.

According to the SBU, a Makarov pistol was used for the murder, on which traces of the killer’s DNA were recorded. In addition, during investigative and operational measures, a video recording was obtained in which the attacker hides the pistol in a forest area and reports this to his curator from Russia.

Kravchenko clarified that in addition to premeditated murder, the suspect committed other serious crimes against the foundations of national security of Ukraine. His actions were additionally qualified under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason) and Parts 1 and 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification and glorification of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation).

“The investigation established that the suspect worked for the Russian special services during martial law: he transmitted data to the enemy on the location and movement of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and provided intelligence materials for coordinating sabotage. The facts of public justification of the Russian Federation’s aggression, glorification of the actions of the aggressor state, and denial of the war that has been going on since 2014 have also been documented,” the Prosecutor General emphasized.

Kravchenko added that the suspect had previously been charged with crimes under Part 1 of Article 263 and Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator carefully prepared for the crime: he collected information about Parubiy’s routes and whereabouts, received a firearm from his handlers from the Russian Federation, and on August 30, he fired eight shots, killing the deputy on the spot.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.

As a reminder, the court extended the detention of a 52-year-old resident of Lviv, who is accused of involvement in the murder of MP and former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy.

As reported, on August 30 , public and political figure Andriy Parubiy was killed in Lviv . Later, journalists reported that MP Andriy Parubiy was shot 8 times by a man disguised as a courier.

By the way, a video of the moment of the murder of the MP from the “European Solidarity” and former speaker of the parliament Andriy Parubiy appeared on social networks. It is known that the SBU reported on the possible involvement of Russian special services in organizing the assassination attempt on MP Andriy Parubiy.
