China is embarking on a massive project to reverse aging and significantly extend human lifespans. The government is investing billions in biotechnology, while private companies are developing pills and procedures that they say can slow or even stop the aging process.

This is reported by The New York Times .

Among them is Lonvi Biosciences in Shenzhen. Its chief technologist, Lu Qinhua, said that research into grape seed antioxidants could significantly extend lifespan. “Living to 150 years is quite realistic,” he said.

The company has created a drug based on a compound called “procyanidin C1,” which, according to the developers, is able to destroy old cells and protect healthy ones. A study on mice showed an extension of life by almost 10 percent. Although the scientific community is wary of such claims, in China the project is actively supported at the state level.

Journalists note that the topic of life extension is of interest not only among scientists, but also in political circles. Earlier, Chinese television recorded a conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin about the possibility of living to 150 years and even “defeating death.”

At the same time, international biomedical conferences are being held in Shanghai and Chengdu, where companies are presenting “islands of immortality”, cryocapsules and other experimental technologies. One such company is SuperiorMed, which advertises its centers as “longevity hospitals”.

American biologist David Barzilai believes that China is taking aging research seriously.

“Strong scientific intent does not necessarily mean high quality results. The challenge is not to do more, but to do better,” he warned.

Chinese scientists believe that a combination of innovation, healthy lifestyles and medical monitoring could allow people to live beyond a hundred years. As Lonvi Biosciences CEO Yip Jizhuo said: “This is not just another pill. This is the Holy Grail.”

It was previously reported that, at the initiative of Vladimir Putin , state support for scientific projects aimed at combating aging has significantly increased in Russia .

As we recall, on the sidelines of the celebrations in Beijing dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan in World War II, an unexpected moment occurred that caused quite a stir. While climbing Tiananmen Gate, the leaders of China, Russia and North Korea — Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un — were accidentally recorded on a microphone during a personal conversation, the topic of which was longevity and even potential immortality .
