Light aircraft instead of expensive missiles: how to effectively shoot down “shaheeds”

Over the long years of military confrontation, the state leadership has failed to establish a rational system for combating cheap enemy drones, which continue to cause significant damage to Kyiv and other cities.

Former Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva, in a comment to “Pryamoy”, expressed serious criticism of the current air defense strategy of the Ukrainian capital.

He stressed the need for alternative solutions. “A very ordinary An-2 “corn harvester”, in which you put two suspensions for unguided missiles, which, by the way, are also hung on helicopters. Only an unguided missile is, for example, the American Hydra 70,” the former pilot noted.

Reva explained that using expensive missiles to eliminate drones costing tens of thousands of dollars is economically unprofitable. In contrast, light-engine aircraft, which even female volunteers can fly after three months of training, are capable of effectively patrolling border areas and intercepting most enemy aircraft before they reach megacities.

This approach does not require complex airports or excessively expensive maintenance, since An-2 aircraft are able to land without problems even in field conditions, – Andriy Reva summarized.

As a reminder, on the night of Tuesday, June 2, Russian occupation forces launched a massive attack on Kyiv. As a result of the shelling , damage was recorded in several areas of the capital , with fatalities and dozens of injuries.

It should be noted that in Kyiv, after the Russian shelling , public transport was temporarily changed and several streets were blocked . The reason was damage to the contact network and the consequences of the enemy attack.

As reported, during the massive attack on Kyiv on June 2, Russian troops resorted to a change of tactics, launching an additional missile strike in the morning, when the consequences of the night shelling were still being eliminated.
