Light-off schedules may be introduced throughout Ukraine: who will be affected by the restrictions?

From 4:00 PM until the end of the day, two-phase power curtailment schedules for industrial consumers may be introduced in all regions of Ukraine. This is due to the high level of electricity consumption and the consequences of Russian shelling of energy infrastructure.

This was reported by the press service of Ukrenergo .

The company noted that as a result of nighttime drone attacks, energy facilities in several regions were damaged, which left consumers in some regions without power in the morning. Emergency restoration work is already underway.

Due to the difficult situation in the power system, emergency shutdowns have currently been introduced in the city of Kyiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, and parts of Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy regions.

In Chernihiv region, by decision of the regional energy authority, hourly power outages are in effect in three shifts. This is a consequence of the enemy’s systematic attacks on the region’s energy infrastructure over the past few weeks.

Electricity consumption remains consistently high. As of 7:30 a.m. on October 16, it was at the same level as the previous day. Ukrenergo explained that the increase in load is due to cold and cloudy weather in most regions.

The company urged citizens to use electricity economically, not to turn on several powerful appliances at the same time, and to monitor messages from their regional energy companies.

“The situation in the power system may change. Please monitor the official channels of your distribution system operators,” Ukrenergo emphasized.

It was previously reported that more than half of Ukrenergo’s energy facilities have installed engineering protection to counter drone attacks . The completion of the second phase of shelters is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

By the way, on October 15, as a result of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure , residents of almost all regions of Ukraine were left without electricity.
