The Russian drone that crashed in Lithuania in late July was deliberately launched from Belarus. The aim of the launch was not only to test the effectiveness of the air defense system, but also to create psychological pressure.

This is reported by Delfi .

According to journalists, this is not an accidental violation of the border, but a targeted operation against Lithuania.

It is noted that the drone flew over Vilnius at an altitude where air defense radars did not detect it. This may indicate a preliminary study of the routes and capabilities of the Lithuanian military.

The drone, which was recovered after the crash, contained not only a powerful explosive device, but also a modern on-board computer and at least one SIM card. This confirms that the device was equipped for complex operations and remote control.

According to analysts, such incidents may be part of a broader tactic by Moscow and Minsk to test the security systems of NATO countries, as well as to inflame tensions in the region.

By the way, on the eve of the Russian-Belarusian military exercises “West-2025” , Lithuania temporarily restricted civil aviation flights along part of its border with Belarus . The decision was made for security reasons due to the risks associated with drones and potential incidents in border airspace.

By the way, on August 1, a drone was found in Lithuania, which flew into the country from Belarus on July 28. It was spotted at the Gaižiunai military training ground in the Jonau district.

As a reminder, earlier, Lithuanian Defense Minister Dovile Šakalenė stated that a Gerbera UAV had flown into the country from Belarus .
