Lithuanian authorities have not yet confirmed that two Russian military aircraft deliberately violated the country’s border last week.

LRT reports this.

According to the publication, on the evening of October 23, a Su-30 fighter jet and an Il-78 tanker aircraft, both departing from Russia’s Kaliningrad region, briefly crossed Lithuanian airspace for approximately 18 seconds, descending approximately 700 meters.

The Lithuanian President’s Chief National Security Advisor, Deividas Matulonis, noted that it is not yet possible to say with certainty whether the incident was intentional.

“Of course, one could say it was a deliberate test, but on the other hand, we have no clear evidence of that. The intrusion was very brief,” he said.

At the same time, Matulonis emphasized that one should not exaggerate the situation or jump to conclusions.

According to the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the Russian aircraft were likely conducting aerial refueling exercises.

Incidentally, one of the largest air defense manufacturers in Europe reported an increase in the number of unknown drones over its secret facilities.

As a reminder, an unknown unmanned aerial vehicle was previously recorded flying over a strategic facility in Norway – Equinor’s gas field located in the North Sea.

As reported, flights of unidentified drones were recorded in Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Norway, and Finland , some of which flew near military installations and strategic infrastructure.
