Lomachenko returns to professional boxing: who will be his opponent?

Former world boxing champion Vasyl Lomachenko plans to return to the ring in February 2027. The 38-year-old Ukrainian’s first opponent after a long break could be Filipino Charlie Suarez.

This is reported by journalist Dan Rafael.

According to Rafael, Lomachenko is preparing to sign a new contract with the Top Rank promotion company. After that, the Ukrainian should fight Suarez.

If Lomachenko wins, he may get a chance to fight for the championship belt in a fight with American O’Shakey Foster.

Previously, the winner of the fight between Foster and Emanuel Navarrete was mentioned among the Ukrainian’s possible opponents. The American won this fight, so he remains a potential opponent for Lomachenko in the title fight.

Lomachenko last entered the professional ring in May 2024. Then he defeated Australian George Kambosos and won the IBF lightweight championship belt.

After that, the Ukrainian did not fight for a long time, and in the summer of 2026 he announced the end of his career due to back problems. Later, the boxer decided to return to professional sports and declared his desire to fight again for the title of absolute world champion.

There is currently no final date for the fight with Suarez.
