Ukrainian defense forces struck the Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez oil refinery in the Perm region of Russia, more than 1,500 km from the front line.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the military, explosions and a fire were recorded at the enterprise. The fire broke out at the isomerization unit, which increases the octane number of fuel, as well as at the primary oil refining unit.

The General Staff notes that this strike is aimed at reducing Russia’s military-economic potential.

Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, with a capacity to process about 13 million tons of oil per year. The company produces gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, which are used by the Russian army.

The extent of the damage is currently being determined.

It should be noted that on May 7, local residents in Perm, Russia, reported explosions and a possible drone attack. According to preliminary data, the Perm linear production and dispatching station could have been hit.

As a reminder, on the night of Thursday, April 30, powerful explosions thundered in several regions of Russia against the backdrop of drone activity. In particular, in Perm, a production station that had already been hit earlier could have been under attack.
