Printed documents detailing the details of the meeting were found in the business center of a hotel in Anchorage, Alaska, where a summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was held.
This was reported by National Public Radio.
In the morning, three guests at the hotel, which is 20 minutes from Elmendorf-Richardson Military Base, discovered the printout.
The eight-page document listed the exact locations and times of the summit meetings, as well as the phone numbers of US government officials.
In particular, the first page revealed the order of meetings for August 15, while other pages listed the phonetic names of Russian officials, details of the lunch, and the seating plan for politicians.
As journalists note, it was assumed that the Americans would organize a dinner “in honor of His Excellency Vladimir Putin.”
In addition, the documents revealed that Trump was preparing a statuette of an American bald eagle as a gift for Putin.
The printout found was not a security breach, according to White House deputy press secretary Anna Kelly, who described the documents as “a multi-page dinner menu.”
However, John Michaels, a professor at the University of California who lectures on national security, is convinced that the found papers indicate negligence.
“It seems to me that this is further evidence of the administration’s negligence and incompetence,” he said.
As is known, negotiations between Trump and Putin took place in Anchorage on August 15. On the eve of the meeting , there were serious fears in expert and political circles that the outcome of the negotiations would be a “territorial exchange,” that is, in fact, the legalization of occupied Ukrainian lands by the Russian Federation.
Following the talks, Trump and Putin held a joint press conference. “Pryamy” collected all the key statements of the US and Russian leaders . After the talks, the US President stated, in particular, that the summit was constructive and gave reason for optimism. He announced consultations with NATO and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but stressed that there are no final agreements yet .
By the way, after the negotiations, Putin emphasized that a resolution to the war in Ukraine is possible only after eliminating its “fundamental causes” and restoring the balance of security in Europe.
It is worth noting that Putin suggested that Ukraine withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as a first step towards ending the war .
