Machine guns, machine guns, grenades and mines: a channel for illegal weapons sales was exposed in the Kirovohrad region
The National Police of Ukraine has stopped the activities of a criminal group that was engaged in the illegal sale of weapons and ammunition in the country. The organizer of the group has been detained and reported to the police on suspicion.

Law enforcement officers have established that a group of individuals operated in Ukraine that organized the sale of captured and lost firearms during hostilities. The organizer of the illegal business was a 43-year-old resident of Poltava region.
Based on the collected materials, investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.
Law enforcement officers documented the illegal sale of 12 automatic weapons and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The total value of this arsenal was estimated by the criminals at 820,000 hryvnias.
With the force support of the KORD special unit, in cooperation with the police of Kyiv, Poltava and Kirovohrad regions, authorized searches were conducted at the places of residence of the suspects and in their vehicles in Kyiv, Poltava and in the territory of Kyiv region.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers discovered a cache of weapons, including:
- 48 Kalashnikov assault rifles,
- 26 Makarov pistols,
- 4 machine guns,
- 8 units of other rifled firearms,
- 4 grenade launchers and 31 shots fired at them,
- 8 min,
- 76 grenades,
- almost 26,000 rounds of various calibers,
- fuses, detonators, detonators, almost 21 kilograms of explosives,
- silencers, smoke bombs, bayonets and equipped magazines.
In addition, cash in the amount of over 3,000 euros and a car were seized.
The entire arsenal has been sent for expert examination. The organizer of the criminal group has been detained in a procedural manner. Law enforcement officers are continuing their investigative actions to identify and hold accountable other members of the group.
