Macron announced new aid to Ukraine: France will transfer radars and missiles

France has signed a contract to supply Ukraine with new radars and interceptor missiles to bolster its air defenses. The aid is expected to bolster the defense of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter, when Russia could continue to strike energy facilities.
This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York. According to him, the G7 countries are also mobilizing support for Ukraine ahead of winter, in particular to protect energy.
“Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure threaten to leave millions of families without heating and electricity. France will stand by Ukraine to help it survive the winter, and the G7 Energy Group is also mobilizing in its support,” Macron said.
The French president clarified that Paris has signed a contract to supply Ukraine with radars and interceptor missiles.
“We are strengthening Ukrainian air defense by signing a contract for the supply of radars and providing interceptor missiles,” Macron said.
At the same time, the French side has not yet disclosed which radars and missiles are in question, nor has it named their quantity and delivery dates.
Macron also said he had discussed with US President Donald Trump strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and the possibility of a moratorium on strikes on Ukrainian and Russian energy infrastructure. According to the French president, this issue could be part of further negotiations.
It is worth noting that France has already made commitments to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. In particular, it is about supplying Ukraine with GM400, GF300 and Kronos radars, as well as SAMP/T NG systems and Aster 30 missiles.
As reported, French intelligence services consider the fall of 2027 as a possible period of large-scale Russian attacks . Against this background, French President Emmanuel Macron instructed to prepare measures to protect critical infrastructure from drones and cyberattacks.
By the way, the leader of the French far-right party “National Union” Jordan Bardelha said that France’s support for Ukraine should become more pragmatic. He suggesteddemanding guarantees from Kyiv, in particular regarding the use of European financial assistance for the purchase of equipment from defense industry manufacturers in European countries.
