“Mad Dog Squad”: Ukraine’s ruling elite compared to Tarantino’s heroes

In an interview on the “Pryamiy” TV channel, political strategist Oleksiy Golobutsky described the current political team as a group of random people united solely by the common goal of enrichment. He drew a parallel with the 1991 film, where the robbers had no permanent connections and did not even know each other’s real names.
This lack of internal ethics and ideology, according to the guest, significantly distinguishes the current government from previous political groups.
“It’s like in Tarantino’s 1991 film “Rad Dogs,” when people who don’t know each other gather before a robbery. They have one goal. This robbery is specific – and to run away,” noted Golobutsky.
At the same time, he stressed that conflicts within the group are becoming increasingly public. As examples, he mentioned a former head of the office who now writes obscene songs about the country’s leader, and former spokespeople who spread harsh criticism.
Golobutsky is convinced that the complete monopolization of power and the huge mandate received in 2019 have led to the president’s entourage losing any boundaries in their actions.
As a reminder, former spokeswoman for Volodymyr Zelensky Yulia Mendel (2019-2021) gave an interview to American blogger Tucker Carlson. She called the Ukrainian president a “hidden evil” and voiced other messages beneficial to Russian propaganda.
Later, it became known that the former press secretary of the President of Ukraine, Yulia Mendel, was added to the Myrotvorets database . In particular, the reasons for including her on the list are participation in acts of humanitarian aggression against Ukraine, as well as the dissemination of Russian propaganda narratives.
Meanwhile, co-chair of the European Solidarity faction, Iryna Gerashchenko,criticized the current government’s approach to personnel appointments “by announcement” and the lack of a professional team, which led to the current crisis and distrust.
