Hungary Suggested as Possible Venue for Ukraine–Russia Talks, Magyar Says

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar said his country is ready to host possible negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
He said this in an interview with Faz.
According to Madyar, Hungary does not plan to supply weapons to Ukraine, as it believes that security guarantees should be provided by the international community and the world’s leading countries.
“We can provide diplomatic and humanitarian assistance, and Hungary can also be a venue for negotiations,” he noted.
The head of the Hungarian government emphasized that Ukraine needs real international security guarantees, recalling the unfulfilled obligations under the Budapest Memorandum.
At the same time, Madyar announced Budapest’s intention to establish good-neighborly relations with all countries in the region and reported on negotiations with Kyiv regarding the rights of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia.
According to him, the parties are conducting technical consultations and hope to reach agreements on the linguistic, educational, and cultural rights of Hungarians in Ukraine in the coming days.
The prime minister also expressed hope that after these issues are resolved, a new chapter in bilateral relations could begin between Kyiv and Budapest.
Also, US Presidential Special Representative Steve Witkoff stated that new progress could emerge in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in the near future.
