Magnetic storm is approaching: The Sun struck with four flashes

Over the past day, the Sun has demonstrated a noticeable increase in activity: scientists have recorded four medium-class M flares at once. At the same time, there is currently no direct threat of a powerful magnetic storm due to these flares.

This was reported by the British Geological Survey.

All four flares originated in the active region of the Sun, which is currently facing Earth. Class M flares are medium in power and can be accompanied by coronal mass ejections.

However, this time, no such emissions directed directly at our planet were recorded after the flares. Therefore, according to current forecasts, they should not cause a strong geomagnetic storm.

At the same time, the calm situation near Earth may change in the coming days.

The cause of the upcoming geomagnetic disturbance will be recent solar activity, and the flow of fast solar wind from the coronal hole.

Its influence is expected to intensify on August 27. Then a weak magnetic storm may begin on Earth.

On August 28, geomagnetic activity is forecast to increase even more. A G1-level storm is not ruled out.

Today, the geomagnetic background is likely to remain relatively calm. Occasional periods of increased activity are possible, but there are no signs of a strong magnetic storm yet.

Thus, the most turbulent days of this forecast may be August 27 and 28, when the Earth will be exposed to the fast solar wind.
