Major General Ihor Skybyuk will be the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – Zelensky

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Major General Ihor Skybyuk will become the new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the head of state, he is an experienced military man who has the necessary professional experience to perform his new duties.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during his address.

The President briefly introduced the future Chief of the General Staff and highly praised his professional qualities.

“The new Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be Major General Ihor Skybyuk, a very experienced military man,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The president has not yet announced any other details regarding the appointment or priority tasks of the new Chief of the General Staff.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Mykhailo Drapaty will become the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine . At the same time, Oleksandr Syrskyy will complete his work in the position and hand over his affairs to the new leadership.

According to Zelensky, together with Mykhailo Drapaty, Yevheniy Khmara, and Pavlo Palisa, they have already determined the new configuration of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, Yevheniy Khmara officially became the acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine . The relevant orders of the Cabinet of Ministers have come into force.

As previously reported, on Thursday, July 16, rallies were held in a number of Ukrainian cities in support of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov . People took to the streets after the decision to dismiss him, calling on the authorities to reconsider the personnel changes.

It should be noted that the day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky decided to dismiss Mykhailo Fedorov from the position of Minister of Defense due to a long-standing conflict with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
