Maneuver defense: Defense forces withdrew from Kamiansky, Zaporizhia region, but keep it under surveillance

Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the South Ukrainian Army, said that Ukrainian troops in the Zaporizhia direction withdrew from positions in Kamianske to preserve personnel, but are keeping the settlement under full fire control.

According to the spokesman, amid the intensification of hostilities in the Zaporizhia direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are conducting a maneuver defensive operation near the settlement of Kamianske. The situation on this section of the front changes daily, so it is premature to speak about the final results.

Voloshyn stressed that the latest reports about the loss of Kamyansky do not reflect the full picture. According to him, Ukrainian units continue active defensive actions, carrying out regrouping and tactical withdrawal of forces in order to preserve personnel and increase firepower on the enemy. The Armed Forces of Ukraine purposefully allow the enemy to advance to individual positions, after which they inflict pinpoint strikes from different directions.

In Kamianske, according to Voloshyn, Russian troops destroyed almost all fortifications, and due to the threat of significant losses, Ukrainian forces had to retreat to the flanks and deep into the defense. At the same time, the enemy does not control the settlement – it is under the fire of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The spokesman also emphasized that the Russian troops have changed tactics and are using the “infiltration” method – they are not conducting open assaults, but are trying to enter the settlement individually or in small groups to gain a foothold. In response, the Ukrainian military is effectively using available means of destruction, in particular, drone operators are actively and effectively operating.

Voloshyn added that such tactical changes allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to maintain the initiative and minimize losses, while maintaining control over the situation. He assured that the Ukrainian troops fully control the flanks and inflict losses on the enemy in Kamianske, preventing him from launching full-scale actions in the settlement.

The operational situation in Zaporizhia remains tense but controlled. The Armed Forces of Ukraine maintain their ability to maneuver, respond quickly, and dominate fire, even in difficult conditions of constant changes in tactics by the enemy.

By the way, as of 16:00 on July 22 , 75 combat clashes were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front . Another 6 battles are ongoing. The most tense situation remains in the Pokrovsky direction, where Russian troops tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders 40 times. The defense forces repelled 34 attacks, and six more battles are ongoing.
