Beijing Slams NATO Chief’s Accusations on Supplying Weapons to Russia as “Disinformation”

China has strongly rejected claims that it is aiding Russia’s military efforts in the war against Ukraine. Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun issued the statement following comments by newly appointed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who accused Beijing of “indirectly supporting” Russia’s war machine.

China has never supplied weapons to any party involved in the conflict in Ukraine. We advocate for peace and a diplomatic resolution, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated, calling NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s remarks slanderous and dangerous disinformation.
The statement came in response to Rutte’s comments a day earlier, in which he claimed that China is supplying weapons to Russia.
Given the long-term threat posed by Russia, the massive military buildup in China, and the fact that North Korea, China, and Iran are supporting Russia’s military efforts in Ukraine, we need to increase defense spending. That is the number one issue on the agenda today, Rutte said.
These remarks triggered a strong reaction from Beijing.
NATO is deliberately stoking tensions, distorting facts, and fostering hostility by manufacturing imaginary enemies. This is a classic tactic of political pressure that risks undermining global stability, Guo emphasized.
The accusations against China come amid growing cooperation between Beijing and Moscow. While there is no conclusive evidence that China is directly supplying weapons to Russia, the United States and several NATO allies claim that Beijing is providing dual-use components, such as electronics, optics, and engines, which can be repurposed for military use.
Despite these concerns, China continues to portray itself as a neutral actor, positioning itself as a potential mediator in future peace negotiations.
It was previously reported that Russia, with the support of China, plans to produce up to two million FPV drones by 2025. In addition, Russia wants to produce 30,000 long-range drones and another 30,000 decoy drones, which are designed to exhaust the Ukrainian air defense system.
By the way, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that China has practically blocked the sale of Mavic drones to Kyiv, instead supplying them to Russia. At the same time, the Chinese Foreign Ministry denied Zelenskyy’s accusations of supplying weapons to Russia in the context of the war against Ukraine.
We will remind you that the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleg Ivashchenko, stated that China supplies special chemicals, gunpowder, and machine tools to 20 Russian military-oriented factories.
