Manko published a photo with military maps – the colonel was accused of violating security

Colonel Valentyn Manko has been accused of posting photos on social media that allegedly show classified maps that could be useful to the enemy. The publication has sparked a new wave of criticism and outrage against the candidate for the position of commander of the Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to volunteer and public activist Serhiy Sternenko, Manko posted pictures of maps marked “Secret” on TikTok. According to him, the distribution of such materials could pose risks to the safety of the Ukrainian military.

Sternenko cited as evidence a photo from the colonel’s post, taken in August 2024, dedicated to his dog. It is unknown when the photos were taken, but Manko had already published some of them before. At that time, some of the maps in the photo were painted over or partially hidden.

The appearance of these photos caused a negative reaction among the military on the social network X (formerly Twitter). At the same time, the OSINT group “CyberBoroshno” drew attention to the discrepancy between the operational situation depicted in the photo and the data of the DeepState interactive map – in the Verbovye-Berezovye area of Dnipropetrovsk region, the difference reached about 9 km.

Publishing photos from the field headquarters showing maps, “Kropyva” or the terrain is a gross violation of security rules.
The actions of such short-sighted people create a real threat, giving the enemy the opportunity to identify the terrain, positions, and units.

In addition, the commander of the 108th separate assault battalion “Da Vinci Wolves” Sergey Filimonov also reacted to Manko’s publication and his video report.

“I cannot understand how this person is even considered a possible commander of the Assault Forces. I am afraid that the commander-in-chief perceives the situation he has outlined as credible,” he noted.

“CyberBoroshno” reminded that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, recently emphasized the inadmissibility of distorting or concealing data regarding the real situation on the front.

The hromadske editorial team contacted the Armed Forces of Ukraine for comment, but had not yet received a response at the time of publication.

At the same time, we recall that the head of the Assault Units Department, Valentyn Manko, stated that the Russians had chosen two key strike vectors , one of which was the Novopavlovsk direction.
