The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published a list of 51 naval vessels used by Russia to support aggression against Ukraine. These are vessels that ensure oil exports and also enter closed ports in temporarily occupied territories.

This was reported by the press service of the GUR.

The list includes oil tankers that provide sea exports of Russian oil and petroleum products, as well as cargo ships that cooperate with the aggressor and enter closed Ukrainian ports, in particular Mariupol and Kerch.

The intelligence noted that Russia systematically uses maritime logistics not only to export energy, but also to export Ukrainian resources, including grain, ore, and coal. At the same time, the aggressor country is trying to integrate the temporarily occupied territories into its own economic system.

To cover up such activities, schemes are used using vessels under the flags of third countries, including those that officially support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“Russia systematically uses maritime logistics not only to export energy resources, but also to export stolen Ukrainian resources,” the GUR reported.

A key role in these operations is played by ship captains, who have information about the origin of cargoes and their transportation routes.

The GUR called on international partners to strengthen control and introduce additional restrictions. In particular, among the recommendations:

  • States must take measures to prevent vessels flying their flags from entering closed ports in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine;
  • The International Maritime Organization — to ensure compliance with the closed ports regime;
  • flag countries to strengthen control over the movement of vessels;
  • partner countries to impose additional sanctions against the individuals and vessels involved.

Intelligence also emphasized that the participation of crews in such operations is regarded as complicity in aggression, and responsibility for this is inevitable.

A full list with names and all characteristics can be viewed on the War&Sanctions portal.

Recall that Ukraine has imposed sanctions against a number of sea tankers of the Russian shadow fleet.

By the way, US military forces conducted a naval operation to intercept the Veronica III vessel in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility. According to the US side, the vessel attempted to evade established restrictions, but was stopped without incident.

Earlier, the US military intercepted the Aquila II oil tanker in the Indian Ocean , which is linked to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet.
