Marta Kostyuk Powers Into Roland Garros Third Round After Beating American Rival

Marta Kostyuk advanced to the third round of Roland Garros 2026 after battling past American player Katie Volynets in a hard-fought match, continuing her impressive run at the Grand Slam tournament in Paris.

In the second-round match, the Ukrainian lost the first set in a tiebreak but turned the tide, winning the next two sets. The match lasted 2 hours and 44 minutes and ended with the score 6:7 (4:7), 6:3, and 6:3.

For Kostyuk, this victory was revenge for the loss to Volynets at the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing two years ago.

In the next round, the Ukrainian tennis player will meet the Swiss Victoria Golubych.
