On Wednesday, September 2, Ukrainian No. 11 seed Marta Kostyuk will face former US Open champion Sloane Stephens of the United States in the second round of the 2026 US Open. The match will be played in New York, with Kostyuk looking to continue her strong run at the season’s final Grand Slam.
The match will start no earlier than 20:00 Kyiv time.
In this match, Marta Kostyuk is the undisputed favorite of bookmakers. Her chances of winning are estimated at approximately 85%. Marta’s favor is evident in her having the best season of her career, her highest ranking, and her recent victory over Stephens at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, 7:5, 7:5.
By the way, this was the only meeting between these athletes so far.
Despite Kostyuk’s advantage, Sloane Stephens is playing at home, so she can count on the support of the stands. Considering that Marta’s previous victory was not easy, it is possible that Stephens will have a chance to grab at least one set this time.
The live broadcast of the match between Marta Kostyuk and Sloane Stephens will be available on the MEGOGO and Kyivstar TV media services, as well as on Eurosport channels.
