In the 1/8 finals of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Toronto, Ukraine’s second-ranked player Marta Kostyuk (WTA No. 11) will face Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek (WTA No. 8).
The match will start no earlier than 19:30 Kyiv time.
This season has been a career-defining one for Marta Kostyuk. She’s moved closer to the top 10 in the world rankings, won WTA titles in Rouen and Madrid, and reached the semifinals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The Ukrainian is also showing strong tennis at the Toronto tournament.
At the same time, a slight advantage still lies with the Polish tennis player. Iga Świętek has a higher ranking. Furthermore, Świętek currently leads Marta in head-to-head matches, 3-1.
We’ll soon see if Marta will be able to close the gap.
