Maryna Poroshenko spoke about the decisions of the Kyiv City Council that were adopted to support the military and citizens
The leader of “European Solidarity” in the Kyiv City Council, the Head of the Standing Committee on Healthcare, Family and Social Policy, Maryna Poroshenko, told reporters that at the session of the City Council, an increase in the budget for the city’s target programs “Defender of Kyiv”, “Caring for the People of Kyiv” and “Support for the People of Kyiv, Defenders of Ukraine” was approved.
This was reported by the press service of Eurosolidarity .
“The city target program “Defender of Kyiv” was adopted by the Kyiv City Council back in January 2022, before the full-scale invasion. We already understood then that we needed to prepare for the protection and defense of the capital and, unfortunately, we were right,” the deputy recalled.
She explained that this program was created primarily for the development of territorial defense, for mobilization training of military personnel who were drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and for the creation of training centers.
“Now this program has expanded and finances the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to the front, electronic warfare, weapons, transport, and training for UAV control. The funding of this city target program has been increased by 4 billion. In total, the program provides for 11 billion hryvnias for 2025,” states Maryna Poroshenko.
Funding for the “Care for Kyivans” program, which compensates for the costs of restoring housing after Russian attacks, was also increased.
“This is a very important program, it has increased by 130 million, previously 340 million were planned for 2025. Another very important program provides support for veterans, their families, families of the dead, missing, and those in captivity. And, unfortunately, this number is only increasing. This program also provides for the adaptation of housing for veterans who were injured during hostilities and have disabilities,” says the EU leader.
The program also provides for the adaptation of housing for veterans who were injured during combat operations and have disabilities, compensation for the purchase of vehicles and their adaptation for driving by servicemen who have received disabilities and have limb amputations.
“I am very grateful to all the deputies who today almost unanimously voted to support the increase in the budget for these city target programs. Today was a unique vote that showed that, regardless of political parties and factions, deputies can unite around very important issues to preserve the vitality of the capital,” Maryna Poroshenko emphasized.
She noted that several important issues were removed from the agenda: “the provision of microgrants for starting or continuing a business for veterans and their families, amendments to the city target program “Support and Development of the Healthcare Sector in Kyiv” regarding the provision of non-refundable monthly financial assistance for primary care doctors. The issue of repairing apartments belonging to orphans was not considered.”
She added that this is a small amount, 12 million 400 thousand, but it is absolutely necessary in order to bring housing into proper condition for children who have reached the age of 18 and can no longer be under the care of the state or foster families, but have their own housing, but it is in an unsuitable condition.
“Such issues require urgent resolution and I very much hope that our European Solidarity faction in the Kyiv City Council will initiate their consideration at the next meeting, because these are issues that cannot be postponed. They are no less important,” emphasized Maryna Poroshenko.
