Maryna Poroshenko told what assistance socially vulnerable groups of Kyiv residents will receive

The Kyiv City Council Standing Committee on Healthcare, Family, Social and Veterans Policy held a special meeting dedicated to overcoming the consequences of one of the most severe combined strikes on the capital, which occurred on January 9.

This was announced by the Head of the Commission, leader of Eurosolidarity in the Kyiv City Council, Maryna Poroshenko.

“At the beginning of the meeting, the memory of the deceased colleague was honored – a medic from the capital’s emergency medical aid brigade, Serhiy Smolyak, who died on January 9, arriving with his colleagues to rescue the wounded during enemy shelling. Long live the Hero,” writes Maryna Poroshenko.

“We supported the draft decision initiated by the deputies of the European Solidarity – Kyiv faction, on the payment of one-time material assistance to socially vulnerable categories of Kyiv residents. This concerns support for the elderly, people with disabilities, and families with children who, after the recent enemy attacks, live in apartments without electricity, water, or heat. The city will provide them with additional financial assistance to overcome the energy crisis caused by Russian shelling,” the Head of the Commission reported.

“Director of the Department of Health Tetyana Mostepan reported on the work of the capital’s medical institutions in these difficult conditions. All hospitals in the city have backup power sources – generators. Ten institutions are already equipped with autonomous boiler rooms, the rest are urgently connecting to mobile ones. Emergency crews are on duty 24 hours a day in each medical institution. Cluster and supracluster hospitals operate 24 hours a day pharmacies. Also, pharmacies of the KP “Pharmacy” are on duty continuously on the right and left banks of Kyiv to provide Kyiv residents with vital medicines,” writes Maryna Poroshenko.

“The Director of the Department of Social and Veteran Policy, Maksym Buchenko, informed about the support that social services provide to the elderly, people with disabilities, and Kyiv residents with limited mobility, in particular those who live on the upper floors of buildings without light, heat, and working elevators. We understand that not all residents of these categories are registered with the Department, so we have asked the Department of Public Communications to post information about available social services on the resources of the Kyiv City Council and the Kyiv City State Administration,” the city council deputy notes.

“The Head of the Children’s Service, Valeriy Tantsyura, assured that all institutions for children are provided with alternative sources of power and have a supply of food and water for several weeks of continuous operation,” the Head of the Commission reported.

“Kyiv is holding on. And is doing everything possible to support everyone who needs it,” writes Maryna Poroshenko.
