Russia launched a massive attack on Odessa with Shahed suicide drones on the evening of November 24. A series of explosions were heard in the city, after which the power went out in various areas.
This was reported by the head of the Odessa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak .
According to him, as a result of the strikes, part of the city was left without electricity, and electric transport on several routes has stopped or is operating with significant delays. An operational headquarters is operating in the city, and Invincibility Points are open 24/7.
Immediately after the explosions, numerous videos and eyewitness reports appeared on social media. People said that the “Shaheeds” were coming in waves from the sea, and the military repeatedly urged Odessans to take cover and not ignore the air raid alert.
One of the videos captured the moment a drone hit a residential high-rise building – the lights in the building went out literally a second before the explosion. According to preliminary data, part of the “Shaheeds” attacked the energy infrastructure, which caused emergency shutdowns.
Emergency services are working on the scene, and the extent of the damage is being determined.
As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that currently Shahed-type strike drones pose a greater threat to Ukrainian cities in some places than ballistic missiles.
As a reminder, during the Russian air attack on Ukraine, a Russian drone violated Romanian airspace and flew into the country’s territory.
