Ukraine is launching a large number of drones into Russian territory to penetrate Russian air defenses and strike targets behind enemy lines.

This was stated on Radio NV by Serhiy Kuzan, head of the Ukrainian Center for Security and Cooperation.

According to him, it is currently unknown exactly how many drones Ukraine is launching over Russian territory, as this information is classified.

“It’s no secret that many of the drones launched by Ukraine are spent precisely on “drying out” the Russian air defense system,” Kuzan emphasized.

He noted that Russia has surrounded its territory with various types of air defense systems, so for successful attacks on targets in the rear, it is necessary to exhaust this system and create a kind of “corridor.”

“Of course, we can assume that to overcome a more saturated, echeloned, one of the most powerful air defense systems in the world, we need a large number of drones. Therefore, yes, we can say that we surpass the Russians in this matter,” said Sergey Kuzan.

He also noted that the current attack on the territory of the Russian Federation was aimed at three key areas: Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Tambov region, where the Progress plant was targeted.

“From a military point of view, it was the Progress plant, which is part of the tactical rocket corporation, that became the main target. It was its most high-tech workshops that were successfully hit,” the expert emphasized.

According to him, these are primarily assembly shops where expensive Western equipment is installed. It is used to produce guidance systems, thanks to which the Kh-101 and Kh-59 cruise missiles can navigate more accurately in space and be more maneuverable.
