Last week, the Russian army increased the intensity of offensive operations at the front, in particular, from March 17 to 20, the enemy tried to break through the defensive formations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in several strategic directions.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
Over four days of active assaults on the front line, more than 600 Russian attacks were recorded.
The Russian army focused its main attacks on the Pokrovsky and Aleksandrovsky directions. The intensity was the highest there — 163 assaults on the Pokrovsky direction and 96 on the Aleksandrovsky direction.
According to Syrsky, the situation was also tense in the Kostyantynivka, Ocheretinsky, Lymansky, and Kupyansky directions, where the Russians were actively exerting pressure.
“Despite enormous pressure and the involvement of significant reserves, the Russian command was unable to fulfill the assigned tasks,” the Commander-in-Chief said.
He added that Ukrainian soldiers have stopped the enemy’s offensive in several directions. However, active fighting continues in some areas of the front, but the occupiers are forced to regroup their forces.
As Syrsky noted, the Russian command threw thousands of soldiers into “meat assaults.” Over four days, the enemy lost more than 6,000 soldiers – killed and wounded. And over the course of a week, the total losses of the Russian army amounted to about 8,710 people killed and seriously wounded.
In addition, the Defense Forces destroyed the equipment and weapons of Russian troops, the Commander-in-Chief assured.
“The successful repulsion of massive enemy assaults was made possible primarily thanks to the courage and resilience of every soldier who performs combat missions and maintains order in these extremely difficult conditions,” he emphasized.
Currently, the occupiers are trying to bring up additional forces and are preparing to continue offensive operations, hoping for worsening weather.
Recall that on March 17-18, the Unmanned Systems Forces struck more than 900 Russian military personnel on three front lines due to a sharp change in weather conditions.
