Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump intend to meet at the World Economic Forum in Davos to finalize the prosperity deal. Initially, the Ukrainian side planned to visit the United States, but European coalition partners advised them to choose a neutral venue in Switzerland.
This was stated on the air of the “Pryamiy” TV channel by public figure and former Minister of Social Policy Andriy Reva.
“Apparently, the allies suggested taking a pause so that Trump could once again make sure that Russia rejects these peace proposals. And then in Davos, when the ground is prepared, we can talk about the next steps, in particular about signing some kind of economic agreement,” the former official noted.
According to Reva, such a strategy is due to the specifics of the behavior of the American leader, whom he characterized as a person of mood. Currently, the settlement plan has been transferred to Moscow, and the international community is waiting for the Kremlin’s official reaction.
The studio guest emphasized that so far the Russian authorities’ responses have only been manifested through increased shelling of Ukrainian cities. The delay in the meeting gives the US the opportunity to see the aggressor’s real position before signing strategic documents.
As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine is ready for finalization at the highest level with US leader Donald Trump. As noted, during the talks in Paris, security guarantees and documents on the recovery and economic development of Ukraine were discussed.
In addition, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is discussing a free trade agreement with the United States. The potential deal could be part of a prosperity package aimed at boosting Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
