Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have lost their 11th press secretary in five years

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s press secretary, Meredith Maines, is stepping down after working with the couple for less than a year.

According to The Telegraph , Meredith Mains was appointed director of communications for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in January 2025. She became the 11th specialist in this position since the couple moved to the United States.

Maines did not give a reason for her departure, but said she had “unlimited gratitude and respect for the couple and the team, and for the good they do in the world.”

The woman represented Method Communications. A spokesperson for the couple confirmed that both Meredith Mains and Method Communications have ended their relationship with the couple’s organization, Archewell.

Her resignation came after it became known that three other Archewell employees had been dismissed in connection with the restructuring of the charity.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously been accused of being “difficult to work with.” In February 2025, Vanity Fair confirmed these allegations. Former employees of the couple told reporters that several people underwent “extensive therapy” or took long breaks after working for the Duchess.
