Microsoft announced the next-generation console Xbox Project Helix: what are its advantages

Microsoft has announced a next-generation Xbox console, working on a codename of Project Helix. The device will be able to run games from both Xbox consoles and personal computers.

This is reported by Windows Central journalists.

The new console was announced by Microsoft Gaming head Asha Sharma, who recently took over from Phil Spencer, and the company also released a short teaser confirming the device’s name and some of its features.

According to Sharma, the new console should become the most powerful gaming device on the market.

“The next Xbox will be the most powerful device on the market,” said Asha Sharma.

The new Xbox is expected to be able to run games from both Xbox consoles and PCs, with the company planning to reveal more details next week at GDC.

Journalists note that the device may receive the functionality of a full-fledged gaming computer based on the Windows operating system. In particular, users will be able to run third-party services and programs.

Possible applications include:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store
  • Microsoft Office

At the same time, the exact release date of the new console has not yet been announced. According to insider Tom Henderson, due to the memory crisis, the release of the next generations of PlayStation and Xbox may be postponed to 2029-2030.

Journalists also note that the new console could be priced at over $1,000 .

It is expected that one of the competitors of Xbox Project Helix could be Valve’s new Steam Machine. According to preliminary data, its release could take place in the first half of 2026.

Let us remind you that on the eve of the long-awaited release of the game STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, the Xbox version has already received significant updates , including a large-scale patch, almost the same size as the game itself.
