The incursion of Russian MiG-31 fighter jets into Estonian airspace on September 19 was intentional, the Estonian Ministry of Defense reported.
The Estonian Ministry of Defense published a corresponding statement on its website, “X.” This is already the fourth Russian violation of Estonian airspace in 2025.
It also says that three Russian MiG-31s violated Estonian airspace near Vainloo Island: “They remained there for almost 12 minutes with their transponders turned off and no radio contact.”
Estonia activated Article 4 of NATO and also lodged a protest with the Russian diplomat.
As previously reported by Pryamoy, three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets deliberately flew into Estonian airspace.
Estonia has also undertaken the construction of the Baltic Defence Line on the south-eastern border with Russia.
