After reports of the suspension of the supply of some military aid to Ukraine, the Pentagon assures that Washington continues to work on solutions.

As stated by the US Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby, the Department of Defense is constantly providing the President with sound options for continuing support for Ukraine amid changes in ammunition supplies.

“We are carefully reviewing our approach to achieving this goal while ensuring the readiness of the U.S. armed forces in line with the Administration’s defense priorities,” Colby said in a statement published by Axios on Wednesday.

The comment came amid concerns about whether the pace of American military support, particularly in terms of artillery and other ammunition, will decrease.

The US Department of Defense emphasizes: changing the volumes or schedules of supplies does not mean abandoning obligations to Ukraine, but rather indicates an adjustment of approaches within the framework of the overall strategy.

It is worth recalling that aid to Ukraine comes through two main channels. Some of the ammunition is supplied from the Pentagon’s existing stockpiles, and Congress compensates the Department of Defense for the costs associated with their replenishment – most often these are upgraded weapons and ammunition. In addition, a second stream of supplies is formed through a special security assistance program, where the Pentagon directly purchases weapons from American military contractors.

A significant portion of the stockpile of weapons has already been delivered to Ukraine, with the remaining shipments scheduled to arrive later this summer. Contract deliveries of ammunition are likely to continue into next year. According to the Pentagon deputy chief, President Trump will soon receive a detailed report on possible options for continuing military support to Kyiv.

As a reminder, the United States of America temporarily suspended the supply of some anti-aircraft missiles and precision ammunition to Ukraine due to concerns about the level of its own defense reserves.

As reported, on July 1, the US Senate passed a “great and wonderful” bill proposed by President Donald Trump that cuts taxes and spending.
