By the end of 2025, Ukraine may receive military assistance worth about $5 billion from allies under the PURL support program.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, El Pais reports.
According to him, European countries have already made significant contributions over several years, but only the United States can provide some of the weapons. Rutte noted that US President Donald Trump has agreed to finance the supply of American weapons in cooperation with Canada and European partners.
“Ukraine receives approximately $1 billion in military equipment every month,” the NATO Secretary General emphasized.
He added that Spain also supported the initiative. “This is important for the protection of Ukrainians, the preservation of critical infrastructure from Russian attacks and for the ability of Ukraine to carry out its own defensive actions,” Rutte explained.
According to him, by the end of the year, total assistance to Ukraine will amount to about $5 billion. “We are moving towards delivering all the equipment to Ukraine. This is not only PURL, but also the Czech initiative on ammunition, as well as the efforts of Lithuania and Denmark to supply defense equipment,” he added.
Rutte also noted that European countries will continue to supply weapons from their stockpiles. Although resources are dwindling after three to four years of war, supplies remain possible.
Recall, Spain plans to provide Ukraine with about a billion euros in aid . This was stated by Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Álvarez and specified that this is a broad support package.
As reported, the European Union remains the main donor of Ukrainian defense, and Poland will provide Ukraine with an additional $100 million by the end of the year to purchase American weapons and strengthen its defense capabilities.
In addition, on November 11, Denmark announced the 28th military aid package for Ukraine, worth over $217 million.
