Mindichgate reaches a new level: what is Bankova really hiding?

The Mindichgate affair could have a significant impact on defense capabilities and international relations with Western allies. The alleged misuse of resources within the Ramstein format requires immediate law enforcement intervention.

This was stated by Iryna Friz, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity faction, on the air of “Pryamoy”.

In her opinion, the scale of abuses in military procurement may be much greater than in the fuel and energy sector. “I do not exclude that corruption in the defense sector may exceed the volume of corruption in the energy sector,” the parliamentarian emphasized.

She pointed out the need to remove officials whose voices were recorded on tapes, in particular the current Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. According to the deputy, society has every right to demand the fastest possible investigation to establish who exactly was profiting from military needs. The lack of reaction from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Zelensky only increases distrust among partners.

At the same time, Friz adds, “The key challenge remains preserving the state’s reputation. If the officials are proven guilty, this should result in real sentences, not a protracted process in the courts – transparency in this matter is the only way to avoid a crisis in relations with countries that provide military assistance,” the MP emphasized.

As a reminder, Ukrainska Pravda has published a new part of audio recordings that, according to journalists, were made by NABU as part of the Midas case. These are conversations recorded in the summer of 2025 in the apartment of businessman Timur Mindich, who is called a defendant in the energy corruption case.

As reported by the representative of the Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense, Tetyana Nikolayenko, the tapes made it clear not only that Mindich is connected with FirePoint, but that he manages the very process of production and attracting investment funds. But it turns out that the former Minister of Defense traveled to the UAE and lobbied for attracting investment in this particular campaign, as well as pushed for the allocation of budget funds for it.

In addition, one of the conversations documented by NABU as part of the “Midas” case in the apartment of currently sanctioned businessman Timur Mindich was with a woman named Natalya and concerned the construction of estates for former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, who is suspected of abuse of office and receiving a bribe, Mindich, and two other people called “Andriy” and “Vova.”

Later, Ukrainska Pravda published the second part of the transcripts of the so-called “Mindich tapes,” which talk about the possible influence of people close to the Office of the President on the state-owned “Sens Bank” and the chemical enterprise “Karpatneftekhim.” At the same time, People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak published new audio recordings of conversations between businessman Timur Mindich and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, in which personnel appointments in the government and the diplomatic corps are discussed.
