Minus $60 million: GUR disabled a unique Russian ship

On September 10, 2025, in the Black Sea, Ukrainian special forces subordinate to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine successfully hit one of the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

This is a multipurpose vessel of the MPSV07 project, which has been part of the Russian fleet since 2015. The estimated cost of such a vessel is about 60 million US dollars. In total, there are only four such ships in Russia.

What is known about the target?

The hit was a high-tech vessel equipped with modern systems:

diving complexes,

underwater remote-controlled vehicles,

side-scan sonar,

electronic intelligence (ERI) equipment.

In addition, it is capable of conducting deep-sea surveys of the seabed and performing complex patrol missions.

At the time of the attack, the Russian ship was conducting electronic reconnaissance near the bay near Novorossiysk, where Russia keeps the remnants of its Black Sea Fleet.

A Ukrainian-made combat drone hit precisely in the area of the wheelhouse, where navigation and communications equipment are located. As a result of the strike:

PEP complexes were destroyed,

navigation systems are out of order,

The ship itself suffered damage that required expensive and lengthy repairs.

As a reminder, fighters of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine struck the temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying two Russian Mi-8 helicopters and damaging a tugboat.

As reported, on August 28, soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine hit a Buyan-M missile ship in the Sea of Azov.
