The special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a brilliant special operation on Russian territory: as a result of the attack, one of the enemy’s most modern anti-aircraft missile systems, the Buk-M3, and the high-precision radar station, the Nebo-U, were destroyed.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Special Operations Forces.
On the night of September 28, Ukrainian special forces, together with members of the Russian insurgent movement “Chorna Iskra”, carried out special operations in the Rostov region. As a result of the operation, the aggressor’s valuable military equipment turned into a pile of scrap metal.
“The Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system and the Nebo-U early detection radar station have been turned into metal,” the SSO said in a statement.
According to military experts, each of the destroyed complexes costs hundreds of millions of dollars. The Buk-M3 can shoot down air targets at a distance of up to 80 km, and the Nebo-U can detect aircraft at a distance of over 400 km. These systems posed a serious threat to Ukrainian aviation and complicated the work of strike drones deep in the Russian rear.
The Buk-M3 is a new medium-range anti-aircraft missile system designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, missiles, and even surface targets. It can destroy targets moving at speeds of up to 3 km/s at altitudes of 15 meters to 35 kilometers.
The development of the complex began on the basis of the Buk-M2. Russia planned to put it into service back in 2009, but due to numerous delays, production began only after 2016.
“Nebo-U” is a meter-band radar station developed by the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Radio Engineering. It has several modifications – for air defense and ground forces.
The radar is capable of detecting targets at an altitude of 20 km at a distance of over 400 km. The accuracy of altitude determination is up to 600 meters, and at an altitude of 500 meters the station records objects at a distance of up to 65 km.
As a reminder, on the night of October 27 , units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a fuel and lubricants warehouse and an oil depot of Russian troops. The damage was inflicted on the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region.
As reported, Ukrainian special forces launched a targeted strike on Russian military facilities in the Kursk region. As a result, the occupiers’ equipment and warehouses were eliminated, including the Iskander complexes, which the enemy is actively using to strike Ukraine. The occupiers hid them in special hangars at an abandoned poultry farm, but this did not help them.
