Money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: “Eurosolidarity” registers changes to the budget for 2026
The European Solidarity faction registers changes to the State Budget for 2026 and demands that additional funds be immediately allocated to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was announced by Iryna Gerashchenko, co-chair of the EU faction, at a briefing .
According to her, the current parliament should end the year by paying off debts to the Ukrainian military, which has not received an increase in funding during four years of full-scale war.
Iryna Gerashchenko emphasized that the faction demands a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the leaders of parliamentary factions, since the Verkhovna Rada has actually been removed from the peaceful negotiation process.
She emphasized that Ukrainians learn about the progress of the negotiations from Western media, while the parliament, which will have to make key decisions, does not receive any official information.
Gerashchenko also sharply criticized the budget approved by the monomajority, which increased spending on the Office of the President, the government, and law enforcement agencies, but did not provide for an increase in payments to the military. According to her, the budget already has a gap in defense funding of at least 350 billion hryvnias, and funds for the Ministry of Defense may run out as early as spring.
The European Solidarity faction has registered amendments to the budget demanding to redirect 68 billion hryvnias to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The proposed source of funding is the reduction of overstated expenses for the Office of the President, the Verkhovna Rada, the government, the reserve fund, and so-called strategic communications.
The faction also insists on repairing roads exclusively taking into account military logistics, increasing personal income tax directly for combat brigades, and making decisions to stop the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
According to Gerashchenko, in the absence of real signals from Russia about readiness for peace, Ukraine should focus on a single priority – strengthening the Armed Forces.
It was previously reported that the adopted State Budget for 2026 is a tool for “a frankly cynical and corrupt waste of public funds” , which will go to the production of TV series and content for media groups associated, in particular, with the “Mindich-Yermak clan.”
As a reminder, European Solidarity calls on the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to veto the 2026 State Budget, approved by a single majority.
