On September 9, the Polish government will consider an updated bill on Ukrainians residing in the country. It was prepared after Polish President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the previous version of the document.

TVP writes about this.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Wiesław Szczepanski stated that the new version of the law will preserve the legal stay of Ukrainians in Poland, but assistance under the “800+” program will be available only to those who are working.

“We want these payments to be linked to work – even symbolic work. We will make an exception only for people with disabilities, pensioners and some other categories,” he said.

The bill should come into force by October 1 — that’s when the current rules that guarantee Ukrainians the right to residence, access to medicine, and social assistance in Poland expire.

As a reminder, the Czech opposition party SPD plans to radically change the rules for Ukrainian refugees to stay in the country. The leader of the movement, Tomio Okamura, stated that Ukrainians will be able to stay in the country only if they work in positions that are not of interest to Czechs.

As reported, Bavarian Prime Minister and CSU leader Markus Söder said that the participation of Bundeswehr or NATO troops in a war against Russia is unrealistic. In his opinion, the possibility of returning male refugees to Ukraine who are fit for service should be discussed instead.
