Kyiv is in an emergency power outage mode, and the country is effectively transitioning to a 4.5–5-tier format. Under such conditions, power may be out for more than 16 hours a day.
This was announced by Yasno CEO Serhiy Kovalenko.
The company explained that no fundamental changes occurred in the capital over the weekend, and Kyiv continues to be in emergency power outage mode. Approximately, electricity is supplied for about 3 hours, after which there may be no light for up to 10 hours, with the situation varying depending on the district.
Yasno also reported a large number of accidents in residential buildings, which are often related to internal networks. In such cases, residents are advised to contact housing and communal services or condominium associations to check the networks and submit applications to electricity network operators.
As for the Dnipro and the region, the region operates on hourly schedules, but in a new format. Due to the change in the situation in the energy system, the country is actually moving to a regime of 4.5–5 rounds of restrictions, during which the duration of outages can exceed 16 hours, and the previous guidelines for the maximum time without electricity are no longer relevant.
“Despite the harsh conditions, the predicted schedule is better than emergency outages because it gives people at least a rough idea of when power supply might be restored,” Kovalenko said.
He stressed that the long power outages are not related to the work of energy workers, but to Russia’s massive attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. According to him, the situation may improve after the end of the period of severe frosts and a decrease in consumption, but the key factor remains the shelling, which is impossible to predict.
It is worth adding that as of January 16, Ukraine’s power system remains in an extremely difficult state due to constant Russian attacks and difficult weather conditions . As a result of the strikes, consumers in Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions were left without power, and network restrictions were introduced in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
It was previously reported that Ukraine’s energy system is in difficult conditions due to intensive Russian shelling and the most severe winter in 20 years . In connection with the emergency situation in the energy sector, the Government has identified a set of measures to overcome its consequences.
